Special Tour on the South Canol
March & April On this remote tour, you will travel along a section of the South Canol Highway, a remote road kept open for summer use. The South Canol runs from the Alaska Highway at Johnson’s Crossing, near Teslin, to Ross River. This highway was originally carved through the Yukon wilderness in WWII, along with the North Canol, to connect the oil wells at Norman Wells to Whitehorse, in order to supply oil to the United States. The South Canol is now maintained only in summer, so it makes an excellent winter trail. You will start your journey at Johnson’s Crossing, and travel up towards the Lapie Lakes and Quiet Lake, travelling through splendid scenery. You will travel through the scenic river valleys of the Nisutlin, Rose and Lapie Rivers, with gorgeous mountain views along the way. At night, your guide will set up a comfortable campsite for you. |
