Paddling in the Yukon at its best
Rapids, calm water, wildlife and amazing scenery all in one day trip.
This is the ultimate full day guided canoe trip. The upper Takhini river has breathtaking views of the mountains surrounding the Ibex valley. Starting from Kusawa Lake we will be paddling through crystal clear waters. The first half of the day will be a bit more exciting with sections of river that have rocks that we want to avoid as well as the Jaws of Death.
Don’t let the name scare you too much, our experienced guide will scout the rapids and talk you through it. And if you are not up to that particular challenge, it is an easy and short hike around the rapid.
After a break with a delicious shore lunch we will continue on our full day canoe trip down the now calm and peaceful Takhini River. The Ibex valley is home to a herd of Elk, Beavers,Otters, bald and golden eagles, as well as an abundance of song birds. Grizzly’s and Black Bears can be spotted along with moose, lynx and more.
Our take out point will be Mendenhall Landing, an important excess point during the Kluane gold rush.
There our shuttle will be waiting for the return trip to Muktuk Adventures.
