Spring Birding for the soul and mind.
Our trips are for the novice and hobby birder. Become part of our family and indulge in some delicious home cooked meals. Together we will explore the boreale forest and wetlands as they wake up from their winter sleep.
The Yukon is a great spot to watch the return of our migratory birds. The first ones we typically see in late April, early May are dark eyed Juncos, white crowned, golden crowned and fox sparrows as well as Hawks. By mid May we are in the mist of it all. Warblers, Finches, Kinglet, Thrush, Cross bills, Woodpeckers, Swallows are some of the common birds we get right outside our Lodge.
Therefore will spend the mornings and evenings on the trails around our lodge. Located on 88 acres in an oxbow on the Takhini River, we do have the perfect little paradise.
Throughout the day we venture off to explore.
Kitted out with binoculars, bird books, birding apps and camera we will visit the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. It is perfect spot for birding having boreal forest and wetland. Bonus is, it is baby season, so never know what else we might get to see.
We will also go for a little road trip to Kluane National Park, where we combine our birding with amazing scenery, and a chance to see other wildlife. We potentially might spot moose, porcupine, lynx, sheep and bears.
All our birding tours will be guided by our very own Manuela. She got interested in birds and birding back in 2013. She loves to share her knowledge and show our guest how special and beautiful the Yukon is.
While the dogs are not part of the birding excursion. Please be aware that the dogs are ever present at our lodge and it is important that you love dogs.
