Takhini River Canoe Trip

The Upper Takhini River – the perfect paddle for the whole family.

The Takhini River starts out of Kusawa Lake and empties into the Yukon River. It is an easy river to paddle with incredible views along the way. Wildlife such as moose, bear, elk, wolves, coyotes and many more call the shores of the Takhini River their home and you might even spot some Otters along the way.

Day One will take us for a scenic drive to Kusawa Lake. The plan is to start the trip at the boat launch at the lake, if it is too windy we will be starting at the end of the lake where the Takhini River flows out of the lake. During our first day paddle we will reach the “Jaws of Death” a short and exhilarating rapid.  For the thrill seekers and experienced adventurers we can paddle through the rapids, and for the less experienced we will portage that very short stretch of the river. The choice is yours.

We will spend 3 nights in total along the shores of the Takhini where we will set up our camp and enjoy some good food under the midnight sun, and of course there will be dogs joining us on this trip.

We will reach the Muktuk Lodge early afternoon on Day 4.

This adventures is perfect for Families with children. There is no experience required to paddle the Takhini River.
